So you’re coming to visit Punta Cana? You’ve made one of the best decisions in your life! We have many wonderful things to show you, and we can’t wait for you to enjoy our beaches and resorts! But like many other places, there are little quirks you should be aware of. And that’s why today I’m here to give you a quick rundown of everything you need to know! Here are a few dos and don’ts in Punta Cana to keep in mind during your trip. Follow these basics and you’re sure to have an amazing vacation!

Do: Try the food

There are many wonderful restaurants you’ll find all throughout Punta Cana. Some of them will offer food you’re very familiar with, like burgers or steak, and that’s perfectly fine! Eat what you want, whenever you want. It’s your vacation after all! But you should definitely venture a little further and try something else. It’s an island, come on! Won’t you try some seafood? I can guarantee it’s going to be very fresh and tasty. Jellyfish Restaurant is a great option! If you find yourself wondering what your next meal should be, why don’t you try some authentic Punta Cana cuisine? I promise it won’t disappoint you.

Don’t: Drink tap water

You might be used to grabbing a glass and drinking some tap water, but that is not a good idea when you stay here. I can’t guarantee that the water will be safe to drink. It’s always a little risky to give it a go, so please never try it. Instead try to drink what your resort and restaurants provide! Bottled water and soft drinks are, of course, safe to consume. This is mostly not an issue, just don’t forget it!

Do: Enjoy the nightlife

While you’re here you might think our only grace is the beach, but you’d be very wrong to assume that! Punta Cana is brimming with life during the day and night. Why? Because it’s safe! Don’t be shy and go drink the night away, party with your friends, and dance all you want! You’ll never have a shortage of activities no matter the time of day. Check out some of our favorites here.

Don’t: Go to the beach at night

Unfortunately, while Punta Cana’s nights are just as bright as the days, the beach doesn’t get that same special treatment. When you’re here you’ll quickly see that everyone leaves the beach when the sun sets, and there’s a very good reason for it. Guards won’t patrol the beaches at night. So I don’t recommend it at all. As beautiful as the beach is at night, never go after the sun is down.

Do: Take some pictures

Oh, so many pictures! I don’t think I even have to tell you to take them because Punta Cana is too beautiful not to. Still, I insist! Take as many pictures as you want and whenever you want, you’ll definitely share them a lot. In fact, if you like photos that much, why not hire a professional photographer as well? It’s an extra expense, but absolutely worth every penny. The pictures you’ll have afterwards will be amazing!

Don’t: Forget to live in the moment

It’s tempting to get lost in the follower count and the pictures you post, but try not to forget about what’s in front of you. Technology is wonderful, but your vacation is there to disconnect for a bit! Friends and family await, and wouldn’t you want to enjoy these days with them? This is yet another reason why a photographer is a great idea. You won’t have to worry about taking them yourself, just let them handle the photoshoot! After your session is done, the fun can resume.

Dos and don’ts in Punta Cana

There you have it! Those are just a few of the dos and don’ts in Punta Cana! It is possibly the best destination you could choose for your vacation. So much so, you’ll want to come back every year! Try out everything you can, and when you’re back try it again. Never forget to be careful and responsible, but always be on the lookout for a fun opportunity. You won’t regret it!
