Everyone loves going to the beach, and I’ll be the first one to admit it. It’s impossible not to be attracted to those peachy, soft, wonderful sands with their crystalline water. But Punta Cana is so big, you can’t just confine yourself to a single spot! The island is waiting for you to discover its secret wonders, you just have to know where to look. And that’s what I’m going to tell you! Here are 4 unique places to visit in Punta Cana!
1: Tropical Treasure
The X marks the spot, and it landed right here! Tropical Treasure is a bit of a hidden gem in Punta Cana, and you’ll find that this gift shop lives up to its name. Many local products and souvenirs are sold here, made using anything from ancient amber to semi-precious stones! All of them are local products, naturally. This isn’t the main attraction, however, as this treasure has more to offer! Behind its doors, it also hides a massage parlor with unrivaled prices, and according to everyone who visits, the best massages you’ll find around Punta Cana! While most resorts will offer the service, it’s often expensive and unsatisfactory. Perhaps it would be time to pay Tropical Treasure a visit!
2: Cave Oleg Bat House
Not many people dare to venture here, but they have no idea what they’re missing out on. It’s a beautiful cave with a refreshing pond inside, which you can (of course) swim in! The rocky formations are a sight that you’ll rarely find anywhere else in the world, and the secluded little pond has a more intimate feeling to it than most other places. It’s one of the most unique places to visit in Punta Cana, meaning that on a good day you might find you and your group will have the whole place to yourselves. Enjoy! You’ll find it near Bavaro Beach, and if you are close by, why not drop in? Check out more details on Trip Advisor.
3: Hoyo Azul
Now, this is the kind of hidden gem that you’ll be dying to find! Meaning “blue hole”, Hoyo Azul is a deep-blue lagoon located inside Scape Park, and you’ll be instantly transfixed by the vibrant, rich color of the water! Moreover, the most intriguing flora and fauna are there for you to see and examine, adding to this lagoon’s charm. But don’t be distracted by those additional facts, this place is ridiculously pretty with its lively color and secluded feeling. If you’re brave enough you can take a dip, of course! No photo can do it justice, so you’ll just have to see it yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
4: Ecological Park and Reserve Ojos Indigenas
There seems to be a common theme among Punta Cana’s bodies of water, and it’s their stunning colors! “Ojos Indigenas” means “Indigenous Eyes”, and it’s a reference to the original name the pre-Columbian inhabitants gave to this area. The twelve lagoons, five of which you can swim in, are shaped like eyes. But apart from taking another dip into Punta Cana’s water, you can explore this subtropical forest riddled with untainted natural beauties, all with the safety provided by the staff. It’s like going on your own tropical adventure!
As you can see, Punta Cana has so much more to offer than what you’d expect! From caves to lagoons to forests, and so much more! The wonders of this island know no end. If you’re ever tired of the same activities, give these unique places in Punta Cana a go. Besides, it’s the perfect opportunity to take a few pictures and show off how much of a good time you had. Maybe your friends will want to come with you next time!
